The Lebanon Valley College Chamber Choir will participate in “Mission: Sing!” at the Hershey First United Methodist Church on February 20, 2016 starting at 7:30 p.m. Dr. Matthew Erpelding, LVC assistant professor of music and director of choral activities, directs the LVC Chamber Choir. The choir will be joined by the Central Dauphin Chamber Singers, under the direction of Mr. John Madas, and First United Methodist Church Sanctuary Choir, under the direction of Mr. Shawn Gingrich ’90.
This concert is an opportunity for local choirs to collaborate for charity. There is no cost to attend, but a free will offering will occur with proceeds benefiting Mission Central, a local charity.
Mission Central works to provide disaster response, mission outreach, and mission education locally and globally. The charity was established in 2002 and is a member of the UMCOR Relief Supply Network. They assist people through national and local programs in the Central Pennsylvania area.
The goal of the concert is to use art to support local charity and it is a new opportunity for Chamber Choir.
Dr. Erpelding believes “it’s important to serve through music. It’s art that can serve a purpose and we wanted to support a local charity we had an affinity with.”
